Anza Dress

A while ago I tested the Anza jumpsuit, for Itch to Stitch patterns. That pattern comes also with a dress option. The upper bodice is the same as the one from the jumpsuit only with a skirt for the lower part. 

I made it in size 4C and I shortened the skirt by 4 cm . I had the dress very fast finished, almost, but sewing the buttons did take longer than sewing the whole dress. It is something with sewing buttons ...I don`t know, it must be. A few days ago I finished the Classic shirt from Liesl+co. but I still need to sew the buttons and I just can`t push myself to do that, very strange :))).

I really like this dress and I wore it a few times already. Very easy to wear, love the deep pockets and the relaxed fit.

I made my dress in a very nice deep red crepe, ( in real life is not so bright red ) and lined the pocket flaps with a nice satin, also used for the skirt pockets. I did not line the breast pockets this time. I love the buttons and I think the gold with red it looks really nice. Again I used some metal beads as cord stoppers.

I could wear this dress every day, with flats it could be my uniform :)

Knipmode dress #19 2/2015

This is my first item for the #Knipmodechallenge2017, I am a little behind as I should make every month at least one pattern from the KnipMode magazines I have ( and I have a lot plus a subscription).

The pattern is from issue 2/2015, dress #19, also as  PDF pattern here. It has a beautiful square neckline, no side seams, the princess seams goes to the side and also it has pockets! All kind of interesting elements. In the magazine, the dress is much shorter. I added 7cm to the length ( just under the pockets). Also, I did not use a zipper as the neckline is wide enough for my head and the style is pretty wide so no need for the zipper.

The dress in the magazine is lined but my fabric was not requiring a lining so I just took the facings from top  20 that is actually the dress pattern made in a top. 

The fabric is a stretch pique, I just love it! The structure is nice, the print is nice, the color ...so I bought 2,5m more in case I wanted to make something else with it. After I measured the pattern, I decided to go with size 34, even if in the Knipmode size chart I am more 38/36. That was a good call. I had to take off 1.5cm from the shoulder wide, that is a standard for me. Overall my muslin was fitting nice except the armholes, way too low. To fix that I used this video from Threads .Not only you see how to adjust the armhole but also how to adjust the sleeve to fit in the new armhole.

The back is simple, a little boxy but not too, for me anyway. The dress is very comfy and I think is going to be great in the spring and the summer... we don`t get really hot summer days here.

The square line is a new one for me but I really like it. I am very pleased with the dress and happy I got to make this pattern.

The Girls Uptown/Downtown dress

This is the Uptown/Downtown dress pattern from Sew straight&gather. I bought the pattern a while ago but didn't get the chance to make it. I even have the ladies version, but that needs to wait a little bit more.

Very easy to make, on the serger is really a matter of a few minutes .For both dresses I used  the same kind of fabric, one way stretch jersey .  

There are a lot of variations included in the pattern ,even for a maxi dress that Lisa wanted so bad , but I don`t think that that will be very handy to wear at school so I made the knee length. The dress has pockets also.I made the blue one with pockets and the pink one  without  .

Size 6 with length 7 years. The blue dress is made without any changes to the pattern but I think because of my fabric choice that did not have enough stretch, the sleeves were a little too tight and the armhole to low. So for the pink dress, I added 1cm to the wide of the sleeve and lowered the armhole with 0.5cm. 

Lisa is very happy with both dresses and she really loves the big cowl! 

Drapey dress

This is the Drapey dress, pattern from Fashion with Fabric book. It is the second time I make this one.

The first version was with short sleeves. I love this dress, I wear it a lot and is the perfect choice when I travel .Very comfy. 

Both are made from ponte knit, the blue is more soft then the black one but they are both very comfy to wear. Based on the finished measurements I made the smallest size

The pockets are great! In the first version, I had the feeling that it was something wrong with the pattern pieces but I think it was me not matching all the notches correct. This time, I had no problems. Even the fold in the front went really easy . It is important to mark the fold line on the fabric and to make the notches for the center front,really easy. 

After I decided to go with this fabric , I realized that it had a horizontal stripe design so I tried to match the "stripes" as good as possible. The sides seams are ok, the front ...acceptable :). 

I am very happy with this dress and I am planning to make it as a top too. PS. This pattern has appeared also in "Love sewing "magazine and you can download the PDF free from their website ... I tried and it works if you open the links on your phone or tablet and download and from there you can transfer to a computer or printer.

Sirena dress-Pattern testing for Itch to Stitch Designs

Eind april was ik bezig met een Knipmode jurk en elke keer zat ik voor de naaimachine met het gevoel: zal ik het af maken of zal ik het weg gooien . Een pauze van te nemen heb ik een paar patronen getest , maar liefs 4 ... Een van deze is de Sirena Dress van Itch to Stitch Designs. Ik moet zeggen dat ik wilde deze maken vooral omdat dit patroon is gemaakt voor verschillende cup maten A,B,C,D en DD . De andere redenen : leuke A-line rok , de zakken en de halslijn.

At the end of April I was working on a Knipmode Dress and every time I was sitting on my machine to work on the dress I was getting that double feeling ...should I finish it or should I just throw it away. To take a brake from it I decided to test a few patterns. One of them was the Sirena Dress from Itch to Stitch Designs. I must say that one of the main reasons was that this pattern comes with cup sizes A,B,C,D and DD. The other reasons: the nice A-line shape , the pockets and the neckline.

Ik heb maat 4C getest volgens de maat tabel en ik ben heel tevreden hoe de jurk past .Ik heb geen veranderingen moeten maken aan de bovenkant.

I made size 4C based on the size chart and I am really happy with the fit over the bust, no modifications there.

Voor mij de moeilijkste part is de stof te kiezen...met alles wat ik maak eigenlijk. Ik had veel keuze in mijn (stoffen)kast maar ik wilde iets dat de detaillies liet zien en dat ik zou  dragen ook , ik bedoel meer dan alleen op de fotos . Dus ik ging voor dit denim ,met een beetje stretch. Ik heb duizend ritsen maar ik had geen blinde rits in de goede maat. Ik vond deze metalen rits die perfect was,  lengt en kleur en dus heb ik de versie gemaakt met zichtbare rits en ik vind het veel leuker zo...een kleine verassing op de achterkant!

For me, choosing the fabric for a project is always the most difficult part. I had a lot of choices in my stash but I wanted something to showcase the details and something that  would make a dress to wear more then once . So finally decided on this denim with stretch . Because I had no suitable invisible zipper I went with the exposed zipper version and I really like it. 

Het patroon is best makkelijk te naaien als je de passvorm goed heb , dit is gemaakt met de testers versie en ik moest echt alleen mijn standard verandering maken voor mijn rug en meer niet. Ik ben geen expert in dit maar ik ben tevreden . het is niet te strak , heel comfortabel , ik zou het elke dag de hele dag dragen :) en niet vergeten...het heeft zaken !

This pattern is really easy to make after you've got the fit right. This dress is made with the tester version and the only modifications I had to make was a common one for me, a sway back adjustment.I am not an expert but I am happy with the fit. Is not tight, really comfortable, I could wear this every day, all day long :). Oh, and don`t forget that it has pockets too! 

  

Ik heb de versie zonder voering gemaakt , er zijn ook aparte patroon delen voor een gevoerde versie.

Om de binnenkant een beetje leuk te maken heb ik de naden met roze draad gelockt.

Sirena Dress comes with lined and unlined version , I have chosen the unlined version and added a little fun  by serging the seams with pink thread.

  Conclusie: Ik ben heel blij met dit jurkje en met dit patroon ook , nu omdat het goed past is het bijna geen werk om een leuke jurk te maken.

Conclusion: I am really happy with this dress and now that the fit is worked out I can make really fast and easy a nice dress.

Testing: Legend Dress(top) pattern by Sew Straight & Gather

Deze is de Legend Dress van Sew Straight & Gather. Ik heb de dames versie getest en toen dit te koop was heb ik het meteen genomen. Het is echt zo snel in elkaar te zetten en ik ben echt dol op die neckline.

This is the Legend Dress/Top from Sew Straight &Gather . I`ve tested the ladies pattern but when the girls version was released I bought it immediately. It is a really fast  project with a great result.

Het patroon komt met verschillende versies , twee jurkjes, twee top opties, mouwloos , korte of lange mouwen. Met testen van het patroon de laatste in mijn maat was de jurk met korte mouwen , maar ik wil dit heel graag als top maken , ook mouwloos voor de zomer.

There are a few options ; two dresses , two top options, sleeveless, short or long sleeve options; plenty of choices .When I joined the test group the last option for my size was the dress with short sleeves but I really want to make this as a top and also sleeveless for the summer.

Het jurkje van Lisa was supersnel in elkaar te zetten en met minder dan 1 m stof ( maat 5/6)

Jurk voor Lisa Ottobre 6/2013#24

Ik heb dit Ottobre gekocht nadat ik een setje kinderondergoed op Facebook zag , zo mooi gemaakt , meteen besteld en daarna niet meer aan de ondergoed gedacht maar aan dit patroon , jurkje 24 "Curly Print"

Ik heb het al eerder twee keer gemaakt in tricot, zonder rits en met de achterpand aan de stof vouw geknipt ( wel de hals lijn 1 cm groter gemaakt ) en ik was al verliefd op die jurkjes.

Nu heb ik het in een rekbare denim met lurex draad, stof gekocht op de stoffen markt een paar manden geleden en gevoerd met een dunne katoen.
In de foto hierboven de achterkant ziet er een beetje vreemd uit maar de rits trekt niet of zo , ik denk dat het komt door de lichaamshouding .

In de Ottobre worden de mouwen niet gevoerd maar ik heb het toch gedaan, ik denk dat de zachte katoen is prettiger tegen de huid dan de spijkerstof .
Ook heb ik de mouwen gewoon lang gemaakt, lekker warm .

Ik heb maat 104 voor de bovenkant genomen met lengte van maat 110 en het past perfect.

Voor de rest heb ik het heel snel in elkaar gekregen . Ik heb een keer een cursus op Craftsy.com  gekocht , "Sew Better, Sew Faster, Smart Construction" en helemaal afgekeken.Het jasje die bij die cursus hoort nog niet gemaakt , maar sindsdien naai ik alles achter elkaar tot op het moment dat ik naden moet persen en daarna ga ik weer naaien. ( de zijpanelen, de schoudernaden , de rok zijnaden, de mouwennaden voor buiten en voering stof en dan ga ik alles persen en zo ga ik door )

Lisa helemaal blij, ik ook :).

Lora Jurk uit La Maison Victor sep-okt 2015

Toen La Maison Victor sep-okt uit kwam heb ik het in de winkel gekeken en niet gekocht , maar een tijdje daarna zag ik op Sancho  een rode versie van de Lora jurk. Zo ontzettend leuk, heb ik meteen die tijdschrift besteld en ook stof gekocht.

Mijn ervaring met LMV was niet best , ik heb een keer alleen de Sunny pants (super populair patroon )gemaakt en  ik weet het niet , ik vond het een beetje omslachtig die patroon uit te halen, en qua pasvorm voor mij was ook niet een succes.

Maar ik vond het jurkje van JoJanne zo mooi dus ik dacht , nou nog een keer proberen maar. Nou, die patroonbladen vind ik nog steeds vreselijk, en terwijl mijn patroon papier goed doorzichtig is,  het was niet te doen, groen op groen en al die lijntjes, vreselijk. Ik heb me dan herinnerd dat ik een keer toen ik iets in de oven moest bakken zag ik dat mijn bakpapier heel doorzichtig was en dat heb ik nu gebruikt, perfect voor de LMV patronen ( papier van het merk Dumil ).

Qua maat heb ik uiteindelijk maat 38 voor de bovenlichaam genomen met  36 in de taille en voor de rok gedeelte 36 in de taille en 34 heupen.

Ik heb de mouwen langer gemaakten ook de zakken dieper , mijn hand kon maar de helt in de zak .
Ik ben een beetje verbaast dat het zo goed past , vooral de bovenkant . Alleen de halslijn achter vind ik niet zo fijn, misschien ga ik dat iets  verlagen bij de volgende jurk.

Het is heel makkelijk te maken, echt makkelijk. Bij knippen duurde even omdat ik het in een laag heb geknipt , ik wilde dat de print een beetje doorliep , vooral middenvoor en achter. Ik ben best tevreden hoe het geworden is. In de instructie staat dat je moet alleen de ingang van de zakken verstevigen , ik heb dat gedaan maar ook bij de rits heb ik twee strookjes versteviging gedaan.

Ook heb ik de mouwen net als bij een tshirt genaaid ( schoudernaaden , mouwen in en daarna de zijnaden /mouwnaden dicht). Bijna alles heb ik met de locker genaaid , alleen de rits en halslijn met de naaimachine en de zomen met de hand.

De stof is punta di Roma met flock print , heel fijn om mee te werken.

Ik ben blij dat ik deze  gemaakt heb, ik ben heel tevreden mee en ik zal zeker meer van maken.
