Nottingham Tops -Itch to Stitch pattern

A short time ago Itch to Stitch released a new pattern, the Nottingham top.
From their website
A top with a twist on the front, relaxed fit, and three sleeve options.

I made my both versions in a viscose rayon, with a nice drape and good stretch.
I think the elbow short sleeve is perfect for my abstract prints.  I saw some pretty nice floral prints and solids Nottingham tops with the butterfly sleeve, I think that sleeve is perfect for florals or solids, so romantic.

I made the tops in size 6 for the shoulders/sleeve/bust and blending to the waist and down to a size 4.
The only change I made was to make a swayback adjustment, by 1.5cm

Maybe it looks a bit complicated but really is just an illusion :)), this top is easy to make, as easy as a basic t-shirt.

The tops in "action"

and the second one :)

Lago Tank -Free pattern from Itch to stitch

This pattern is a stash buster and it is a winner in the category " instant gratification" and to make it even better, the latest pattern from Itch to Stitch is free . You can download the Lago from the Itch to Stitch shop here .

Even if it is free I must assure you that the pattern is fully tested as all the other Itch to Stitch patterns are. The pattern comes in 00-20 sizes and it is made for knit fabrics.

I made my tops in size 6 for the upper body tapering to size 4 from the waist down. Also, I shortened the tank at the pattern lines by 4 cm.

The neck and armholes are finished with a  folded band...very easy. I made my tops with the serger and only the hem with a twin needle on my sewing machine. The blue print Lago is made in 30min from cutting to wear :)...if that is not fun... and lesser than 1m of fabric for one tank

I love the relaxed fit and I know that will come more of this tops in my closet.

You can download the free Lago tank here, also free is the Lindy Petal skirt, which I want to try soon.

Here you can see all the versions made by the testers!

Newport top- Itch to stitch new pattern

I do sew other patterns than Itch to Stitch, but for this time, again a new PDF pattern from Itch to stitch. This is the Newport top, a pattern made for knit fabrics. It has a boxy silhouette, relaxed fit with high low hem. Wide boat neckline with envelope fold shoulders. The pattern comes with two sleeve options,3/4 flute and regular long. The size range is 00-20 and I made mine in size 6.

Depending on the fabric choice you will get a very different look. This blue version is made with jacquard jersey, very soft and with a nice drape. I made another version in a more stiff knit fabric and the difference is easy to see on the drape at the hem.

I think I like it more with the drapey fabric.

The neckline is finished with facings, that later are stitched in place, you can use for this decorative stitches, contrasting thread or a cover machine. I went with a regular stitch and matching thread as my fabric has the jacquard structure and I want it to keep it simple. The fabric is from a local fabric store "DroomStoffen" from Almere.

I really like the neckline of this top! This is a really easy to sew pattern, after attaching the facings with the regular sewing machine, I sew the rest on my serger in a few minutes.

The Newport top is on sale at the Itch to Stitch pattern shop

Hepburn Turtleneck - Itch to Stitch

First time I made the Hepburn Turtleneck  was in March last year, testing the pattern for Kennis from "Itch to Stitch".
I made then two of them and both are still quite often worn. I kept the pattern on sight to be sure I will not forget to make more. And now after almost one year I finally made two more Hepburns.

I made size 6 blending to size 4 from the waist down. Further no changes . The fabric on both is a soft sweater knit.

This is very fast sewn. I think that in one hour you are done, from cutting to wear it. That of course if you are not going to choose a striped fabric with all kind of different small stripes. The right side is almost perfect matched, the left side not so much, oh well...nothing to stress about ...hahaha.

Everything is sewn on the overlocker and the hems are done with the twin needle. Love a fast project with a very low failure percentage :). The fit is really nice, I think I could make a FBA on a next one. I love the fit on the shoulders, something that I need to adjust almost every time.

I am not sure about this color on me, but this fabric is so lovely ,soft and perfect for this pattern.

Very happy with this two pieces. Next, I just finished two skirts, a pattern testing for Designer Stitch, the designer brand from the Bridget top. Next week is going to be released and I will blog then about them. On my table now is a dress   from Knipmode  2/2015, made a muslin and a few adjustments, but still not sure about it .We will see...

Bridget top with mid spiral sleeve by Designer Stitch Patterns

This is my second Bridget Top, the newest pattern from Designer Stitch. The first one I made was with the split sleeves and as much I like that one, this one is really my favorite! I bought this fabric maybe a year ago with a top like this in my mind, it has great drape and I love the texture.

I used the same bodice from the blue version but obviously with other sleeves. I was going for a relax fit, to let the fabric drape nice so I made no waist darts at the front and back. From my original size two, starting from the lower bust leg I started to blend to size 4, and at the hips to size 6. Sizing up at the waist and hips made it possible to eliminate the zipper back closure. The neckline is finished with a single fold bias, instead of the original facing. I saw this very nice explained in the Craftsy Class Sewing on the Edge, with Lynda Maynard, a lot of finishing techniques there, also for fine and sheer fabrics.

As in the pattern,  the spiral flounce is double, but because I was afraid that that will make it to heavy I just made it from one layer and made a baby rolled hem. After trying a few times with the rolled hem foot and every time with disastrous results I made it without that foot, using the standard foot of the sewing machine and a method similar to this but without the second stitching line. It went great, the fabric pressed pretty easy so that helped.

I made french seams for the side seams for a clean finish and to made them more resistant to stress.

How cool is this skin smoothing thing for Photoshop :)....really cool I think, hahaha.
So, I am very happy with this blouse! The fabric was perfect for this pattern and I really want to give a try to another option of the Bridget Top, the gathered flutter sleeve ( part of the short sleeve pack ), all the testers versions are so inspiring!

The Bridget Top is now on Sale for a limited time and if you want all 7 sleeve options you can use the coupon code SLEEVEADDON to enable the second Bridget pattern to be purchased at 1/2 price =$4.50 US

Bridget Top by Designer Stitch Patterns

I have so many pretty fabrics in my stash, just for this kind of tops and I do have a lot of patterns but still, everytime I want to have the perfect pattern for my precious fabrics ( not really precious in money but more as in "oh , I love you and I want the perfect match for you ") .
This is the Bridget Top from Designer Stitch ch patterns . I applied to test this pattern because I love the style and the designer, Ann Grose, is such an inspiration, always positive and supportive so a pleasure to work with.

The Bridget Top is a semi-fitted top with 3 long sleeves variations: long bell cufflet, split sleeve with ties and a spiral fluted cufflet. Also there are 2 necklines possibilities, 2 lengths, and an optional soft tie belt. Most important for me is that the pattern offers cups sizes ( B, C, D, DD) and that makes the fitting really easy. The top has two bust darts, back and front waist darts and shoulder darts on the back.

I made, obviously, the split sleeve option, low hip length, and round neckline. I made it in size 2 C and changed only the position of the dart, a little higher. I love the fit, and not working for days to get it right, is really a plus for me. Great instructions and very easy to follow.

The Bridget Top is also available with short sleeves, there you have 4 options, beautiful and on-trend: Mid Elbow Cufflet, Mid Elbow Gathered Cufflet, Gathered Flutter and a Mid Tiered Spiral Sleeve. I also made one Bridget with one of the short sleeves and oh, I love that one! ( tomorrow on the blog)

The Bridget Top is now on Sale for a limited time and if you want all 7 sleeve options you can use the coupon code SLEEVEADDON to enable the second Bridget pattern to be purchased at 1/2 price =$4.50 US

Chiffon Top-Knipmode 09/2015#16

--------------------------------------
This top is from Knipmode Magazine 9/2015#16, it was almost ready but the small thread loop did have to wait almost a month ( or longer). Anyway now is finished and I am really happy with it.
I know that it is all creases but this pictures were made after 1 hour sitting in the car and I took my chance for the pictures otherwise my photograph was going away.
It was a little work for a simple top but chiffon and simple don't go together I guess.

---------------------------------
Because my fabric is pretty transparent I made the back double layered.

Source: knipmode.nl

-------------------------------

I was in love with the front design and the two layers front bodice worked well for my transparent fabric.

-------------------------------------

The instructions ( in dutch) are pretty good, only they are talking about making a small hem of 5mm , well in this fabric that was not possible without a roll hem foot . I had one for an old machine but for my Pfaff I did not have one so I bought one, worked like a dream. I can sew now kilometers of roll hems.

---------------------------------------
Almost everything is sewn with french seams, also the sleeves , looks so neat, I really like it! In the magazine they use a facing for the under front panel to finish the V neckline, but because of my transparent fabric I chose  to use a bias strip.

---------------------------

I am really happy with this top. It is available at KnipMode.nl as a PDF or a print pattern.( dutch language)

Trinity Tee by Rock the Stitch
